The Problem
During the installation of precast concrete
products, Beresford's Flooring Ltd experienced the daily problem of
working on newly installed precast flooring units, supplied with
pre-formed service holes. The voids pose a significant hazard to our
site operatives and those of other trades accessing the floor
following completion of the precast flooring installation. As a
result of this risk, ankles have been broken / sprained and shins
badly cut / bruised.
At present the common practice is to place a
board over the hole. These are often not fixed in place and easily
dislodged. To provide secured boards is a relatively time consuming
process. The board needs to be cut to size, before drilling holes
and, finally, by screw fixing the board using a power tool. Once
fitted, the boards themselves become a trip hazard due to the board
thickness. The majority of boards used are either plywood or
untreated planed timber. By nature, these surfaces are not eye
catching or easily recognised as a trip hazard and after a while,
the board can cultivate algae on the surface making it slippery
underfoot.

Small Hole Cover (for holes up to 210mm
diameter / 200mm square)
The Beresford's Flooring Ltd Small Hole Cover is a
thin, bright yellow, anti-slip, plastic board with legs built into
its base. The board is 250mm square on plan and provides a very
quick, slim-line, eye catching, tool-free* alternative to traditional
timber board protection.

Large Hole Cover (for holes up to 300mm
square)
The Beresford's Flooring Ltd Large Hole Cover is
a thin, bright yellow, anti-slip, plastic board. The board is 350mm
square on plan and provides a very quick, slim-line, eye catching
screw fix alternative to traditional timber board protection. Refer
