They’re developing this £65m education campus on behalf of Flintshire County Council. Beresford’s Flooring was recommended to Robertson by Leach Structural Steelwork in Preston. The campus will be home to 1300 pupils when it’s completed in November 2023.
Our niche is delivering the in-situ concrete works package to the precast concrete hollowcore flooring. It includes soffit shuttering, metal deck edge trim, placement of loose reinforcement and the in-situ concrete pour around the hollowcore flooring joints, completing the floor system. We support main contractors and end users with a lot of school and university projects like this one. Don’t forget to involve us at early tender stage. Our vast library of tie details eliminate temporary shuttering, soffit shuttering, and site welding saving time and money on site, and provides a much better aesthetic finish.
We’re installing our Tier 3 insitu concrete works package which includes the associated tie details to the supporting steel frame, supplied by Leach. The area of the suspended hollowcore floors is circa 4,500m² and we’re carrying out our works over five concrete pours, utilising a concrete pump. We’ve also been asked to carry out some additional work – providing in-situ reinforced concrete edge beam.
Our prep work involves the supply and installation of galvanised metal deck edge trim, which is fixed to the perimeter steel beams and then secured back to the precast concrete hollowcore floors using galvanised steel straps. The site placed reinforcement is made up of a series of stirrup bars fastened to lacer bars. Once the preparation works have been completed by the Beresford’s team, we begin the in-situ concrete pour, which will complete the tie works interface between the steel beams and precast concrete hollowcore floor.
We’ve also installed our own hole covers, supplied by our sister company Brilliant Ideas Ltd to protect against potential injuries from temporary service holes in the floor slab.
